Hola Family, Friends and Fellow Travelers, here we are again with another chapter of KnJ's travel Blog!
The grocery store was straight out of my nightmares, next to a fertilizer plant, the whole place stunk. But we did find some things to eat. Oh how we miss the Mexican markets! Here you have to bag and weight your own veggies. A friendly local helps us out...
The sand had an impressive, unusual shine to it....
Its a nice modern one on the second floor, in a great location....
Oviedo, established in the 8th century and known for its architecture, a magnificent ancient cathedral and its dedication to higher education through the University of Oviedo, is a gem.
Alfonso II, King of Asturias, relocated his capital to Oviedo around the year 790. Around 800, the main Cathedral was built on the site of a previous basilica. This night-time shot isn't bad, but doesn't do it justice. It is spectacular!!
The impressive city of Oviedo from up on a nearby mountain hike....
Enjoying the homemade Vermouth .......
The architecture, parks and art in Oviedo are outstanding....it has a very high quality of life....
There's an old, long former train tunnel under the city that connects to a big park....an excellent shortcut to the park! It was a fantastic idea to reuse this as a pedestrian walkway....
Another stunning building.....
A rest stop on one of our daily hikes along the old train route that heads out of Oviedo. Although there are an increasing number of Brown Bears in Spain, this is probably my closest encounter....what the!!!
You all take care and be well. Keep an eye out for our next post....
XOXOXO
